I filmed the following unboxing video the day I got my
set in the mail (September 12, 2013). I planned to post this the day it was
filmed but due to technical difficulties, I was unable to. I'm sorry it's
not very good quality; the only camera I have that I can transfer videos to
my computer from is my old digital camera, but I did the best I could with
what I had to work with. Also, when you watch this you may think from my
tone of voice that I'm not very excited about the set, but let me tell you -
when I filmed this, I was consciously composed and business-like and
it took everything I had not to squeal like a little girl when I first
opened it. Enjoy:
Below is the disc breakdown. There are 130 episodes and
over 13 hours of special features spread out over 24 discs - 3 in Season 1,
4 in Season 2, 4 in Season 3, 4 in Season 4, 4 in Season 5, 3 in Season 6
and the 2 bonus discs. I've listed which episodes and special features are
on each disc and their run times. Some episodes have edits due to music
licensing issues or other things worth mentioning and those are noted
underneath each of those episodes, too.
Season 1 - 13 Episodes on 3 Discs
Disc 1: "Vint and the Kids Move In" (25:00)
"For Better or For Worse" (24:59)
"The Wedding (1)" (24:59)
"The Wedding (2)" (25:00)
"Family Feud" (25:03)
Disc 2: "Cellmates" (21:23)*
*NOTE: This episode appeared
to be the edited-for-syndication version because it runs much
shorter than the rest of the Season 1
episodes, the Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince
introduction (if one was filmed for this
episode's original broadcast) is missing and the
opening credits contains the shots of the
house used in the series' syndication edits,
rather than the original house used in the
original NBC opening. Time Life/Starvista
confirmed this is the case, 9/19/13. The
original broadcast master of this episode did
"not [withstand] the test of time and [was]
lost."
"Mama Gets a Job" (24:57)
"Double Standard" (24:57)
"Mama's Boyfriend" (21:24)*
*NOTE: This episode appeared

shorter than the rest of the Season 1
episodes, the Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince
introduction (if one was filmed for this
episode's original broadcast) is missing and the

"Fran's Dress" (25:00)
Disc 3: "Alien Marriage" (24:59)
"Positive Thinking" (24:57)
"Mama's Silver" (24:49)
Special Features: 1) Featurette: Mama's Family Tree: The Branches (All
About Eunice and Ellen) (16:44)
2) Family History: A Classic "Family" Sketch from The
Carol Burnett Show, Featuring
Betty White (Show #1012, Original Air Date:

Season 2 - 22 Episodes on 4 Discs
Disc 1: "Flaming Forties" (23:56)
"The Return of Leonard Oates" (24:06)
"Country Club" (24:04)
"Naomi and the Stork" (24:01)
"Rashomama" (24:04)
"Obscene Call" (23:57)*
*NOTE: This episode contains
a music edit. In the scene where Vint tries to record the obscene
phone caller, the song that plays when Vint
accidentally turns the radio on instead of
hitting record, was originally Willie
Nelson's "On the Road Again." That song has been
replaced and Sonja's line "He's probably
not that into Willie Nelson" is cut, too.
"Ellen's Boyfriend" (24:05)*
*NOTE: This episode contains
a music edit. In the scene in the restaurant, the song "Second Time
Around" that the violin player plays at the
table has been replaced.
Disc 2: "Gert Rides Again" (22:45)*
*NOTE: This episodes contains
2 music edits. In the musical chairs scene, the song "Chariots of
Fire" has been replaced. And the part when
Thelma and Gert perform "Ain't Misbehavin'"
has been cut. That scene goes from Thelma
asking if anyone can play the piano so she
can get a party going to everyone already
in the dance line lead by Thelma who tells the
nurse they're having a party, to get out of
their way and that they're going down to
Intensive Care.
"Amateur Night" (24:06)
"The Mama Who Came to Dinner" (24:02)
"Mama Learns to Drive" (24:06)*
*NOTE: The Harvey
Korman/Alistair Quince introduction for this episode appears to be missing
or
has been cut (for reasons unknown). Unlike
several other episodes from Season 2 that
don't have introductions (where it's
possible they never had one to begin with), you can
tell this episode had one originally
because a split-second remnant of it can be seen just
before the opening if you pause the episode
at the beginning (right after hitting play from
the menu) and go frame-by-frame. But,
because the episode DOES have the original
NBC opening, it seems to be otherwise
uncut.
"Black Belt Mama" (24:05)*
*NOTE: This episode has no
Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince introduction, but because the rest of
the episode seems to be uncut (it DOES have
the original NBC opening), it's possible
there never was one to begin with.
"Mama Buys a Car" (24:02)*
*NOTE: This episode has no
Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince introduction, but because the rest of
the episode seems to be uncut (it DOES have
the original NBC opening), it's possible
there never was one to begin with.
"Supermarket" (24:07)*
*NOTE: The Harvey
Korman/Alistair Quince introduction for this episode appears to be missing
or
has been cut (for reasons unknown). Unlike
several other episodes from Season 2 that
don't have introductions (where it's
possible they never had one to begin with), you can
tell this episode had one originally
because a split-second remnant of it can be seen just
before the opening if you pause the episode
at the beginning (right after hitting play from
the menu) and go frame-by-frame. But,
because the episode DOES have the original
NBC opening, it seems to be otherwise
uncut.
Disc 3: "No Room At the Inn" (24:07)*
*NOTE: This episode has no
Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince introduction, but because the rest of
the episode seems to be uncut (it DOES have
the original NBC opening), it's possible
there never was one to begin with.
"Mama for Mayor (1)" (21:34)*
*NOTE: The Harvey
Korman/Alistair Quince introduction for this episode appears to be missing
or
has been cut (for reasons unknown). Unlike
several other episodes from Season 2 that
don't have introductions (where it's
possible they never had one to begin with), you can
tell this episode had one originally
because a split-second remnant of it can be seen just
before the opening if you pause the episode
at the beginning (right after hitting play from
the menu) and go frame-by-frame. But,
because the episode DOES have the original
NBC opening, it seems to be otherwise uncut
except for the following 2 music edits: The
part where Vint - testing the microphone
just before the mayor arrives - sings "Moonlight
Becomes You" and Mama calling him a jackass
is cut. And the entire campaign
sequence featuring Mama's take on "Happy
Days Are Here Again" - or "Harper Days
Are Here Again" - has been completely
removed. The cut begins just before Fran starts
to play the song on the piano and ends as
Naomi - with Mama sitting on the back, still
exhaustedly waving from the campaign -
pulls the car into the driveway.
"Mama for Mayor (2)" (23:49)*
*NOTE: The Harvey
Korman/Alistair Quince introduction for this episode appears to be missing
or
has been cut (for reasons unknown). Unlike
several other episodes from Season 2 that
don't have introductions (where it's
possible they never had one to begin with), you can
tell this episode had one originally
because a split-second remnant of it can be seen just
before the opening if you pause the episode
at the beginning (right after hitting play from
the menu) and go frame-by-frame. But,
because the episode DOES have the original
NBC opening, it seems to be otherwise uncut
except for the following music edit: The
"Last Week on Mama's Family" introduction
has been edited because the "Happy Days
Are Here Again" song was used there again
and had to be cut.
"Harper Versus Harper" (23:57)
"Mama's Birthday" (24:02)*
*NOTE: The Harvey
Korman/Alistair Quince introduction for this episode appears to be missing
or
has been cut (for reasons unknown). Unlike
several other episodes from Season 2 that
don't have introductions (where it's
possible they never had one to begin with), you can
tell this episode had one originally
because a split-second remnant of it can be seen just
before the opening if you pause the episode
at the beginning (right after hitting play from
the menu) and go frame-by-frame. But,
because the episode DOES have the original
NBC opening, it seems to be otherwise
uncut.
"Mama Cries Uncle" (24:07)*
*NOTE: This episode has no
Harvey Korman/Alistair Quince introduction, but because the rest of
the episode seems to be uncut (it DOES have
the original NBC opening), it's possible
there never was one to begin with.
